چکیده
IntroductionEvidence on the associations of lifestyle factors with venous thromboembolism (VTE) is inconsistent. We aimed to investigate modifiable VTE in women and men.MethodsWe used data from two cohorts comprising 30,137 36,193 men aged over 45 years free cancer VTE. Information was collected 1997 via a self-administrated questionnaire. cases were ascertained by linkage National Patient Register until end 2019.ResultsDuring mean 16.9-years follow-up, 1784 2043 diagnosed Compared individuals <10 min/day physical activity, multivariable hazard ratios (HRs) 0.67 (95% confidence interval (CI), 0.58, 0.79) 0.78 CI, 0.67, 0.92) >60 min/day, respectively. lowest adherence modified Dietary Approaches Stop Hypertension diet, HRs 0.87 0.75, 0.99) 0.88 0.80, 1.00) for highest adherence. In women, 1.16 1.03, 1.29) past smoker 1.28 1.14, 1.45) current compared never smoker. Alcohol coffee consumption not associated VTE.ConclusionsThis study suggests that being physically active adhering healthy diet may lower risk men. Cigarette smoking positively women.

Venous Thromboembolism Following Travel
International travel has become increasingly common and accessible, hence, about two billion passengers undertake international and domestic air travel each year. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a serious public health disorder which may occur following prolonged travel, especially after air travel. A direct relation between VTE development and prolonged travels has been documented, while some ...
متن کاملRisk factors for venous thromboembolism.
Until the 1990s, venous thromboembolism (VTE) was viewed primarily as a complication of hospitalization for major surgery (or associated with the late stage of terminal illness). However, recent trials in patients hospitalized with a wide variety of acute medical illnesses have demonstrated a risk of VTE in medical patients comparable with that seen after major general surgery. In addition, epi...
متن کاملRisk factors for venous thromboembolism.
Risk factors for venous thromboembolism (VTE) are often modifiable and overlap with risk factors for coronary artery disease. Encouraging our patients to adopt a heart-healthy lifestyle by abstaining from cigarettes, maintaining lean weight, limiting red meat intake, and controlling hypertension might lower the risk of pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis (DVT), although a cause-effect r...
متن کاملHospital performance for pharmacologic venous thromboembolism prophylaxis and rate of venous thromboembolism : a cohort study.
IMPORTANCE Hospitalization for acute medical illness is associated with increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). Although efforts designed to increase use of pharmacologic VTE prophylaxis are intended to reduce hospital-associated VTE, whether higher rates of prophylaxis reduce VTE in medical patients is unknown. OBJECTIVE To examine the association between pharmacologic VTE prophylaxi...
متن کاملLevels of coagulation factors and venous thromboembolism.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Altered levels of coagulation factors have been included among the abnormalities that may increase the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in otherwise healthy subjects. INFORMATION SOURCES According to the studies that have been carried to test this hypothesis only elevated levels of factor VIII and fibrinogen emerged as independent risk factors for VTE. STATE OF...
